Issue No. 01 · Coach G Development · DMV

Develop the Player. Develop the Person.

I develop athletes. Basketball is the vehicle — what we're really building is the player and the person. Twelve years coaching, with 27+ collegiate athletes developed across Division I, II, and III.

What Parents Are Saying.

Real words from the families I work with. The development shows up in the games — and in the player.

★★★★★

"George Johnson's player development program is built on clear, effective teaching that translates directly to game play. He tailors his approach to each player, focusing on real skill growth and decision-making under pressure. Sessions are competitive, structured, and purposeful, with immediate takeaways players can apply. Any serious player looking to improve will benefit from his work."

The Backstory.

March 13, 2011 · Championship Game
31 Points. Career High.

I played the game at the highest level I was handed — and outworked the rest. Started at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Class of 2007 — McDonald's All-American nominee, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and the player who led the Warriors to a regional title and two district championships. Three years at Gannon University delivered another regional and conference championship. My senior year at Augusta State earned NCAA Division II All-American and 109 made threes in 30 games.

Thirteen years later, I'm still on the floor. Elevate Prep Academy in Delray Beach was my first stop coaching, where I worked with future Baylor commit Tyson Jolly, future Ole Miss starter Dante Fitzpatrick-Dorsey, and a generation of 4-star and 5-star recruits. Today I run Coach G Development out of the DMV.

By day, I'm a Health and PE teacher in Arlington Public Schools. I'm also Head Girls Coach at Gunston Middle School and Assistant High School Coach at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes. The discipline I demand at training is the same discipline I model in front of a classroom every morning.

I look at this as a service, not a payment. Basketball is the vehicle — what we're really building is the player, and the person.

The Philosophy · Vol. IV

The Standard Is Development.

Basketball is how we get there. But the work goes deeper than the game — every athlete leaves with more than a better jump shot.

01

Skill Development

Ball handling, shooting, finishing, footwork, and basketball IQ — built at game speed.

02

Accountability

Show up, work hard, own the result. The standard doesn't bend.

03

Confidence

Reps build belief. The work on the court translates to how an athlete carries themselves.

04

Leadership

The habits that make a great teammate are the habits that make a great person.

05

Academic Success

As a teacher first, I hold athletes to a standard in the classroom, not just the gym.

06

Character

Respect, discipline, and consistency — developed in every session, on purpose.

How the Sessions Run

What Each Session Looks Like.

I don't run drill work for the sake of drill work. I sit, I assess, and I tell parents and athletes what I see. If they want to work on it, we work on it. If they came in with something specific, we work on that. Every rep has a purpose.

Before You Book · Vol. XI

How the Program Runs.

A few things to know about how I run the training. These policies keep gym time productive and protect the experience for every athlete in the program.

01 · Cancellations
24-Hour Notice

Schedules change — I get it. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours notice. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged in full and forfeited. Repeated last-minute cancellations can affect future scheduling priority.

02 · No Call / No Show
Forfeited Session

Athletes who don't show up for a scheduled session without communication automatically forfeit that session — no refund or credit. Please respect the time, preparation, and court availability reserved for your athlete.

03 · Late Arrivals
Sessions End on Time

Sessions start and end at the scheduled time. Arriving 15 minutes late to a 90-minute session doesn't extend it by 15 minutes. Consistent lateness can affect future scheduling availability.

04 · Membership Usage
Use Sessions Consistently

Membership sessions are meant to be used throughout the month. Sessions can't be carried over indefinitely due to repeated cancellations or scheduling conflicts. Reasonable rollover limits exist to keep the program's structure intact for everyone.

Commitment to Professionalism

Coach G Development is built to be high-level, organized, and professional. These policies protect your athlete's training time — and everyone else's.
